Neilans

This Blog is actually just an excuse for me to have a place to post a few of my myriad and always growing collection of photos! And, a way to keep my family and friends up to date on our activities.

Daily life

Not much new - we're pretty much relaxing down here.

I did get into my Little Susie Homemaker role, tho, and hauled my sewing machine out for a couple of decorating projects. I made a long curtain that hangs in front of the short hallway to the guest bedroom and bathroom. We wanted to have a door put there, to turn the area into a true en-suite for guests, but that was getting way to complicated, so we went for the quick fix. The curtain was, of course, terribly simple but still took me a while (considering that I started in last March!)

Then I took the leftover fabric (heavy cotton) and made a couple of slipcovers for our wicker occasional chairs. They already had the cushions, but they were a plain vanilla, so now they are a rich dark maroon. That should've been simple, too, but I had to engineer a bit, as the cushions were three dimensional with no straight lines. Then a cutting mistake on the second one, after I had (Ithought) done all the hard thinking --I cut that one on the seam line itself, neglecting to make a seam allowance ...argh!-- necessitated more engineering (not my strong suit).

Anyway, they're done now except for the hand stitching, and look great.

John and I painted the little TV room last week, too, so that room is starting to look much homier and friendlier. We chose a pale yellow/gold and it's amazing how the feel of the room changed. We didn't do the fourth wall (very, very high ceiling) but that's OK.

Photos to follow ... but I want to get this online now.

From e-mail

Okay, so I am writing this on an email page and sending it to my Blog.

Karin showed me how to do this ages ago but I never practiced it, and so forgot how. But here goes.
