Neilans

This Blog is actually just an excuse for me to have a place to post a few of my myriad and always growing collection of photos! And, a way to keep my family and friends up to date on our activities.

Shark Valley

On Tuesday, Colin and Eileen took us back to the oddly named "Shark Valley" section of the Everglades National Park.
Colin rode his bicycle around the 15-mile paved loop while the rest of us opted to take the tram.

At the mid-point of the loop, we climbed the lookout tower ramp - similar to the one in the Smokies on the NC/TN state lines - except the view was much, much different!
(The little person is Eileen.)

Colin and John could see for miles and miles across the "sawgrass prairie."

In the area below us, we saw alligators, turtles, fish and about a dozen kinds of birds, including nesting pairs of herons feeding their young.
